Is It Normal to Have Erythema Reaction in 308 Excimer Laser Treatment for Vitiligo?
Dose selection
Select the skin of abdomen or upper arm, irradiate with a certain dose of 308nm excimer laser, observe the erythema reaction 24 hours after irradiation, and determine the MED of patients. Generally, it is required that erythema lasts 24-48h, which is just right, the dose is too small to achieve the therapeutic effect, and it is too large to cause blisters.
Adverse reactions
Erythema, blisters, itching, burning, generally relatively mild and short-lived, most can be self-alleviated. If blisters appear, the treatment should be paused. When the blisters subside the treatment can be continued. These are expected side effects of treatment, no need to worry about.
Can Excimer Laser Be Used in Eye Area of Vitiligo?
Wavelength is related to energy. The shorter the wavelength, the higher its energy. Similarly, the wavelength of ultraviolet light is shorter than that of visible light. Of course, the energy is higher, and the damage to human skin is also greater.
But medium-wave ultraviolet light is ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 280-320nm. UVB has certain physiological effects on human skin. Most of these UV rays are absorbed by the epidermis of the skin and cannot penetrate into the skin. Treating closed eyes generally does not cause damage to the eyes.
