Pityriasis Simplex and Vitiligo

 

Many patients take Pityriasis Simplex for Vitiligo mistakenly because of its certain similarity with Vitiligo, and then they fall in to a sinking mood.

Pityriasis Simplex is known as Pityriasis albus, a kind of common disease in children and young adults, which is mainly round and oval pieces of depigmentation with a few fine scales on the surface. Most of time, Patients have no subjective symptom. The spot is of different size, the color is light red in the early period and gradually become light white soon. But the decoloration of Pityriasis Simplex is incomplete, rough surface with scales sometimes.

At present, most consider Pityriasis Simplex as non-specific dermatitis. Sebaceous glands have not yet developed in childhood and lack sebum on the surface. Excessive cleaning, especially cleaning with alkaline soap, is one of the causes of Pityriasis albus. In addition, sun exposure and dry skin may promote the disease.

Patients should care personal hygiene, do a good job of facial cleaning, remove excess grease and filth, pay attention to wash their face with warm water, so as not to stimulate sensitive facial skin.

In order to reduce the symptoms of dry skin on the face, patients can choose some greasy skin care products to moisturize the face skin, and try to avoid using drugs and cosmetics containing hormones or irritants.
