Why Does Some Vitiligo Shows Symmetrical Distribution?
The distribution of vitiligo can be irregular or symmetrical, or along the nerves in a band, unilateral distribution, lesions can be widely distributed or confined to certain parts, which are all normally seen. The symmetrical appearance of vitiligo is actually a kind of generalized vitiligo, and the clinical characteristics of generalized vitiligo are that the white patches are scattered in many parts of the patient, with a certain symmetry. The reason for the symmetry is that it is closely related to the body's nervous system and meridians.
Generalized vitiligo, is a kind of non-segmental type of vitiligo. The symptoms of vitiligo that are distributed in various parts of the body in a diffuse manner are mainly small patches, which show that the patches are not dense, and widely distributed, and the patches are symmetrically distributed. So, how can patients identify if they are generalized vitiligo?
Generalized vitiligo has the following characteristics:
(I) The white patches are scattered on several parts of the patient's body, with a certain symmetrical distribution, not confined to a certain area, and rarely appearing in the group.
(II) The area of the white patches of generalized vitiligo patients is relatively small, generally not more than half of the body surface area. This feature is also the main basis for distinguishing generalized vitiligo from universal vitiligo. Some patients mistakenly believe that the white patches are divided into several parts is the large area onset of vitiligo. In fact, if the white spot area does not exceed half of the body surface area, it can be recognized as generalized vitiligo.
Therefore, generalized vitiligo patients should pay attention to the fact that if they do not receive treatment, delaying the treatment time and regard it carelessly, in the long-term, there is a possibility that it will spread into universal vitiligo, increasing the difficulty of treatment.
Vitiligo looks the same, but in fact, it has different manifestations in every patient, the treatment must be tailored to the patient's own physical state for comprehensive and precise symptomatic treatment, so as to ensure the early treatment effect.
