How to Know Vitiligo is in Active Stage

(1) The judgment standard refers to vitiligo disease activity score (VIDA): the recent 6 weeks occur new skin lesions or the previous skin lesions enlarged (+4 points); the recent 3 months occur new skin lesions or the previous skin spots enlarged (+3 points); the recent 6 weeks occur new skin lesions or the previous skin spots enlarged (+2 points); the recent 1 year occur new skin lesions or the previous skin spots enlarged (+1 point); at least one year show stable condition (+0 point); at least one year show stable condition and have new pigment (-1point). The total score is less or equal 1 point that is the stable stage, the score is more than 1 point is the active stage, while the score is more than 4 points that is the rapid developing stage.

(2) The judgment standard refers to Wood lamp: in the nature light to observe the skin lesion, then we need prepare it under the wood lamp. The active stage will show a bigger white area than the natural light. The stable stage shows an equal or less white area than the natural light.

(3) The other methods: the isomorphic effect shows that is in the active stage.
